SURYAPET: A woman was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Aipur village under Atmakur mandal of Suryapet district on Tuesday. According to locals and police, unidentified assailants rammed a car into Bhikshamamma, 40, and then slit her throat with knives before fleeing the spot.

Family disputes, extramarital suspicion behind killing

Bhikshamamma, wife of lorry driver Korivi Mallayya, had two sons Bharat, a mechanic in Hyderabad, and Praveen, who works at a chicken shop in Suryapet. Police said the couple had been quarrelling for some time over her alleged extramarital relationship.

Village elders had earlier intervened and held several rounds of mediation. Recently, a teacher from Suryapet was reportedly close to Bhikshamamma, which angered her husband and relatives. On Tuesday, Mallayya and elders summoned both to a local party office for talks. After the discussion, Bhikshamamma left for home. She was attacked near the office shortly after.

Police suspect family involvement

Police suspect the involvement of her husband, his relatives, and the teacher’s family. Deputy Superintendent of Police Prasanna Kumar, Circle Inspector Rajashekhar, and Sub-Inspector Srikant Goud visited the scene and began an investigation. The body was shifted to Suryapet Area Hospital for postmortem.
