Suryapet sees highway traffic surge; police deploy drones

SURYAPET: Heavy vehicular traffic was reported on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway near Suryapet as large numbers of people headed to their native places ahead of the Sankranti festival.
Festival travel pushes traffic volume up
The increase in traffic led to slow movement at several points along the highway. Police officials said the rush was expected due to festive travel and advised motorists to follow lane discipline and traffic instructions.
Drone surveillance to prevent congestion
To avoid traffic bottlenecks, police deployed personnel at key junctions and began monitoring vehicle movement using drone cameras near Suryapet. The aerial surveillance is being used to assess traffic density in real time and take quick corrective measures.
Police on standby for quick response
Officials said steps are being taken to ensure vehicles move in an orderly manner without prolonged halts. Police teams have been kept on standby to regulate traffic immediately if any disruptions or accidents are reported.
