Hyderabad: Beneath the glitz of Hyderabad’s premier farmhouses, function halls, and event spaces lies a troubling underbelly of rampant alcohol violations. The Excise and Prohibition Department warns to crack down on these high-profile locations.

Revealing the details about one such incident, the Excise and Prohibition Department said they had imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the owners of a Farmhouse in Chevella, after they were caught hosting a party with alcohol consumption without prior approval. It is pertinent to note that in the recent raids against Janawada farmhouse, allegedly belonging to KTR’s brother-in-law Raj Pakala, the Excise and Prohibition Department initially found foreign and excess liquor violating excise norms and booked a case.

According to the Excise and prohibition department, these farmhouses, banquet halls, convention centers, club houses, and function halls frequently host parties and functions. However, organizers often fail to obtain the required permissions from the Excise Department for alcohol consumption at these events.

Excise department warns farmhouses, function halls and others

Shamshabad Excise and Prohibition Superintendent Krishna Priya warned that “from now on, if alcohol is consumed at any party or event without the necessary permissions, cases will be registered against the organizers and the owners of the venues”. The Shamshabad Excise Superintendent’s jurisdiction has 3 banquet halls, 31 convention centers, 3 club houses, 90 farmhouses, 65 function halls, 4 hotels, and 24 resorts, said Krishna Priya in a statement.

Unauthorised LiquorThe Excise Superintendent has emphasized that anyone planning a liquor party in farmhouses, function halls, club houses, conventions, and resorts must obtain permissions from the Excise Department. Failure to do so will result in cases against the function hall managers, fines, and blacklisting.
