HYDERABAD: A stray dog attacked a four-year-old boy in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana on Thursday evening, leaving him blind in one eye, police said.

The incident took place in Bhuvanagiri town while the child was playing outside his home. The dog mauled the boy and dislodged one of his eyeballs, officials said.

Doctors admitted the boy to a hospital in Hyderabad, where he is undergoing treatment. Police said the child is stable and out of danger. His other eye remains unaffected.

Bhuvanagiri Lok Sabha member Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy spoke to the district Collector and other officials after the incident. He asked them to take immediate steps to prevent such attacks.

Reddy also spoke to the boy’s father and assured him that the government will cover the treatment costs.
