Stolen Laddu

Hyderabad: In the early hours of Sunday, September 8, 2024, unknown individuals stole Ganesh laddu prasadam from multiple locations in Hyderabad. The incidents were captured on CCTV cameras across Hyderabad city.

At around 2:58 a.m., thieves stole a laddu prasadam from a Ganapathi pandal in Matrushree Nagar, Miyapur. The theft was recorded on camera.

Earlier, at approximately 1 a.m. on the same day, an unidentified person entered an apartment in Pragathi Nagar Colony within Bachupalli limits and stole a laddu from Ganapathi’s hand. CCTV footage also captured this incident.

In a separate incident in Medchal, five miscreants stole a Ganesh laddu from Siddhartha Colony in Keesara, Medchal district. This theft was also recorded on CCTV.

Residents speculate that these thefts may be connected to a local saying, “Ganapati Bappa Moriya and Adha Laddu Choriya,” which suggests that stealing and eating the Ganesh laddu prasadam is considered lucky and auspicious.

Khairatabad Ganesh Festival 2024

Meanwhile, the 2024 Khairatabad Ganesh festival features the idol “Sri Saptamukha Maha Shakti Ganapathi,” a magnificent 70-foot-tall figure celebrating 70 years of the Khairatabad Ganesh tradition. Since its inception in 1954, this iconic celebration has become central to Hyderabad’s cultural and religious landscape, drawing thousands of devotees each year.

The Telangana Police Department has issued a traffic advisory to accommodate the large number of visitors expected for the 10-day Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Festival, which runs from September 7 to September 17, 2024.
On September 17, the 11th day of the festival, the Ganesh idol will be immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake. Diversion arrangements will be implemented from 11:00 a.m. until late at night to manage anticipated traffic congestion, depending on the volume of visitors.
