HYDERABAD: St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet, celebrated its Annual Day on January 23, 2026, with 94 prizes awarded to undergraduate and postgraduate students for academic and co-curricular excellence.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad, D Joel Davis, attended as chief guest, while Annie Vijaya, Director, WE-Enable Urban Innovation at WE Hub, was the guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Davis said it was a privilege to be part of the college’s annual celebrations and praised the institution’s standing in the city. He also lauded the National Cadet Corps cadets for the guard of honour. Referring to the Stanford marshmallow experiment, he urged students to set higher goals, manage temptations and avoid seeking instant gratification. He cautioned them about anonymity in the online space and stressed the need to be responsible, respectful and inclusive. “Your journey may not always be positive. Manage temptations, have a greater goal and come up in life,” he said.

Congratulating the prize winners, Vijaya encouraged students to remain inquisitive and open to diverse perspectives. She spoke about the “three Cs” curiosity, courage and continuous learning as guiding principles for excellence. Drawing from her work with women entrepreneurs, she said many struggle with self-doubt and emphasised the importance of standing up for oneself. She also invited students to apply for the second cohort of the WE-Enable student programme focused on women entrepreneurship and experiential learning.
