St. Francis College, Begumpet to host National Seminar on synergising human & AI
Begumpet: The Department of Commerce at St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet, Hyderabad, is hosting a two-day National Seminar titled “Towards Viksit Bharat: Synergising Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence in Commerce and Management for a Sustainable and Prosperous India” on November 19-20, 2024. The seminar, being conducted in a hybrid format, has attracted over 110 participants.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. B. Sudhakar Reddy, Head of the Department of Economics and Director of ICSSR-SRC, Osmania University. It also featured a keynote address by Prof. K. Srinivas, Head of the ICT and Project Management Unit at NIEPA, Delhi.
The seminar commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Vanisree Talluri, Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce and Convener of the event. She highlighted the importance of adapting to the “Treadmill of Revolution” to stay ahead in an ever-evolving world.
Dr. Vanisree Talluri also expressed gratitude to the event’s sponsors, including ICSSR, Bank of Baroda, SL Global, Uni Savvy Overseas, and My3 Group. She also announced the publication of an ISBN book featuring 34 research papers titled “Towards Viksit Bharat: Synergising Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence in Commerce and Management for a Sustainable and Prosperous India.”
In her address, Principal Dr. Uma Joseph highlighted the seminar’s relevance in the context of India’s journey from 200 years of colonial rule to 100 years of independence. She highlighted the theme of Viksit Bharat as a vision for a self-reliant and united India, with aspirations of becoming a developed nation. Dr. Joseph also commended the collective efforts of the Department of Commerce and students in organising the seminar.
Chief Guest Dr. B. Sudhakar Reddy praised the College for organising the event and highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research. He encouraged the younger generation to pursue research that harmonises Human Intelligence and AI, while also highlighting opportunities for research funding through ICSSR grants for major and minor research projects.
Prof. K. Srinivas, the keynote speaker, addressed the indispensable role of the teaching community, stressing that AI cannot replace teachers. He also spoke about concerns related to plagiarism and advocated for a balanced integration of AI and Human Intelligence.

Data to Decisions: Leveraging Machine Learning for Finance by CMA KVN Lavanya, Practicing Cost Accountant and Member of SIRC of ICMAI.
AI Revolution in HRM: Technical Innovations and Applications by Mr. Budaraju Sudhakar, Former Joint President of HR at Adani Group.
AI in Marketing: Leveraging a Competitive Advantage by Dr. Surjit Kumar Kar, Visiting Professor, School of Commerce, XIM University, Bhubaneswar.
Classroom Dynamics in the AI Era by Mr. Abhirama Krishna, Director General, Badruka Group of Institutions.
On the second day of the seminar, 45 paper presentations are scheduled, with 34 selected papers set to be published in the aforementioned ISBN book. The book will be officially released during the valedictory session on November 20, 2024.
