HYDERABAD: The Department of Computer Science at St Francis College for Women, Begumpet, organised C@nnect 8.14, a two-day inter-college robotics workshop on March 6 and March 7, 2026.

Workshop brings students from colleges across Hyderabad

A total of 41 students from colleges across the twin cities participated in the workshop. The college also selected 10 BSc final-year students to take part in the hands-on training programme focused on robotics.

The programme began with an inaugural session that included a prayer, Bible reading and a prayer song by the college choir.

AI and robotics can solve real-world problems, says principal

Principal Uma Joseph said the world is witnessing rapid transformation through artificial intelligence (AI).

“AI has made human life more comfortable by helping people perform tasks faster and more efficiently. From voice assistants on our phones to smart machines and robots, AI saves time and reduces effort in daily activities,” she said.

She added that AI has also contributed significantly to healthcare and urged students to use robotics and AI to address real-world challenges.

“As students participating in this robotics workshop, you are the future innovators who can use AI and robotics to solve real-world problems and make society better,” she said.Students

Department releases magazine during workshop

During the event, the department released its magazine “SFC Bytes”, unveiled by principal Uma Joseph and resource person Ravi Teja.

The workshop focused primarily on practical robotics training, offering participants hands-on exposure to robotics systems.

Organisers said the programme helped students develop teamwork, creativity and innovation, while strengthening their interest in emerging technologies.
