SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’ to debut at Mexico Comic Con with global preview

HYDERABAD: After the Ramayana showcase, filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming project Varanasi is set for its first international preview at the Comic Con Experience in Mexico on April 24.
Producer S. S. Karthikeya will present a segment titled “Varanasi to the World”, introducing the film to a select global audience. The showcase will include curated behind-the-scenes footage featuring actors Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Rajamouli will not attend the event in person but will address viewers through a recorded video message. The session will also feature a live interaction, offering insights into the film’s vision, scale and storytelling approach.
An industry source described the move as strategic. “It is an expensive film and doesn’t only cater to Indian audiences, but is intended for the world to showcase India on a global stage. These events are attended by key industry players and serve as both networking and business exercise,” the source said.
The Comic Con Experience is among the largest pop culture events globally, attracting international studios, creators and media.
