Sriganesh earlier in the 2023, Telangana assembly elections contested from the BJP party for the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly and garnered 41,888 votes and lost the election to Lasya Nanditha who contested from Bharat rashtra Samithi(BRS) with 17,169 votes margin. Sriganesh joined Congress in the month of March after the Congress came to power in Telangana state.
After the tragic demise of Secunderabad Cantonment sitting MLA Lasya Nanditha, Secunderabad Cantonment went for a bye-election. Fifteen candidates were in foray from here and the assembly segment went for polls on May 13 along with 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Telangana.
Secunderabad Cantonment was a bastion for Sayanna’s family. Niveditha’s father won the Secunderabad Cantonment assembly seat five times. After bifurcation of Telangana state, Sayanna joined the BRS in 2015. He contested on BRS ticket in 2018 and was elected as an MLA for the fifth time from the Cantonment segment. After the demise of Sayanna, his elder daughter Lasya Nanditha, won the seat during the 2023 assembly election although the BRS party lost power in the state.
As the results are scheduled to be announced on June 4, the counting process across the counting centers began at 8am on Tuesday morning. This time, the ruling Indian National Congress(INC) party, opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in the race and as of now they are leading with eight seats each.
