Sridhar Babu clarifies Kokapet land issue

HYDERABAD: Telangana Information Technology and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Sunday said confusion over the Sri Sarada Peetham lands in Kokapet arose due to an “information gap”. He said the land belongs to the Peetham and there is no doubt about it.
He said the state government will extend full support to the Peetham’s development and spiritual programmes.
The minister visited Sri Sarada Peetham in Kokapet and inspected the Raja Shyamala Temple and other structures. He later held a meeting with Peetham head Swatmanandendra Saraswati.
Speaking to reporters, Sridhar Babu said the government respects all religions equally. “Our government has no hesitation in correcting mistakes. As soon as we learnt the facts, we rectified the error regarding the Peetham lands,” he said.
He said steps will be taken to prevent recurrence of such issues.
Criticising leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Bharat Rashtra Samithi, he alleged they were indulging in “cheap politics” by using religion. He said they were spreading misinformation against the government for political survival.
“Our government does not follow a bulldozer culture. Some people are unable to tolerate our efforts to protect government lands from encroachers and are deliberately maligning us,” he said.
On Bapu Ghat development, he said the government would proceed in line with public opinion and urged residents not to believe false propaganda.
