Hyderabad: The Sri Vidya Vihar School, Rastriya Vidya Kendram, an organization allegedly affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), issued a transfer certificate to a student after the parents raised concerns regarding the school’s non-compliance with DEO directives related to the sale of books and uniforms. Additionally, the school was allegedly found to be collecting unauthorized fees without issuing proper receipts.

While speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Srikanth, a parent, said, “The school management made false accusations and issued a transfer certificate because I opposed the administration’s actions regarding the sale of books, uniforms, and the collection of excessive fees. Not only me but also other parents who question the school management, receive transfer certificates, and face false accusations.”

Srikanth said, “Sri Vidhya Vihar CBSE School, situated at Annojiguda, Pocharam municipality, is forcing parents to buy all books, stationery, and uniforms from the school. The books being sold are from private publishers and are priced more than 10 times higher than NCERT books, which are prescribed for the CBSE board and followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas and other CBSE schools.”

Srikanth said, “The school is collecting an annual fee of Rs. 10,000 from every student and only issuing books after the payment. Moreover, they are collecting an admission fee of Rs. 10,000, a caution deposit of Rs. 5,000, and an application cost of Rs. 1,000 without providing any receipts. The school is simply writing the details on white paper and giving them to parents. The payments are being transferred to individual private persons’ PhonePe or Google Pay accounts.”

Srikanth also mentioned several illegal activities being carried out by the school, which are against education policies, and filed a complaint with the DEO.

Srikanth stated in the complaint filed with the DEO that the school management committee and the school society are mainly controlled by only two individuals, with the rest of the members being uninvolved in school matters. Upon investigation, it was discovered that some committee members have no affiliation with the school, and some are relatives of the management appointed as members of the school management committee and the parents-teachers association. These actions suggest that the school management is involved in illegal activities to exploit parents and students.

Srikhande Umesh Kumar, an RTI activist and founder of Know Your Rights, took to ‘X’ and posted, “Rastriya Vidya Kendram, an alleged RSS-affiliated trust, runs Vidya Vihar School. Some high-ranking RSS members are allowing outsiders to engage in illegal practices. Those who question face the expulsion of their children.”
