Sports Star to Superstar: Hyderabad VIPs on SIR List

HYDERABAD: Several prominent Hyderabad personalities, including former India cricketer VVS Laxman and filmmaker SS Rajamouli, figure in the Election Commission’s list of people who received notices during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, as reported by TOI.
The Election Commission published the list under the title ‘List of Persons to Whom Notices Have Been Issued (After Draft Roll Published on 17-08-2026)’. The handle @avinashmohan highlighted the list on X.
ECI’s SIR is a gift that keeps giving – notices.
It really doesn’t matter how big or small you are. That much is true.
Their incompetence is served equally. Remediation might be an entirely different story.
Welcome to the Telangana edition of ‘Who got served’. ECI promises…

The list includes several prominent names, among them sportspersons Pullela Gopichand, Saina Nehwal and Mithali Raj.
Actors Mahesh Babu, his wife Namrata Shirodkar, Venkatesh Daggubati and his two daughters also figure in the list. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Vijay Deverakonda and his brother Anand Deverakonda also received notices.
Name mismatch among reasons cited
Officials cited several reasons for issuing the notices. These include name mismatch, ‘unmapped with last SIR’ and parent-name mismatch. In some cases, the discrepancy column remains blank.
The list also includes entrepreneurs Murali Krishna Prasad Divi and Upasana Konidela, among other prominent names.
“There is an option, especially in the case of VIPs, to authorise someone to appear for the hearing if they are unavailable. There is still time, and many well-known people are yet to appear for hearings,” said R V Karnan, district election officer, Hyderabad.
Officials said the notices to prominent personalities were not unusual. They noted that lakhs of voters across Telangana could also have discrepancies in their electoral details.
Activists, however, raised concerns about how the revision process could affect ordinary voters. They said the notices to celebrities highlight the importance of resolving discrepancies before the final roll.
“What is the status of the single woman living in a small hamlet in a remote village in Telangana? Who will take responsibility if her vote gets deleted?” asked Ruchith Asha Kamal, an activist who also took part in the CJP movement in Delhi.
