South Telangana braces for severe storms; heavy rain likely in nine districts
HYDERABAD: Several districts in south Telangana are likely to receive heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the next two hours as severe storm systems intensify across the region, according to a weather alert issued on Friday.
The warning said heavy downpours are expected in Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Jangaon districts.
Rainfall of up to 80 mm is likely in some areas, prompting authorities and residents to remain alert as storm activity develops.
Isolated storms in eastern and northern districts
The alert also forecast isolated thunderstorms in Nirmal, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Warangal and Rangareddy districts during the same period.
Weather observers said storm cells were continuing to strengthen across parts of southern Telangana, increasing the likelihood of intense rainfall in affected areas.
Hyderabad expected to remain dry
In contrast, Hyderabad is expected to remain dry for at least the next three hours, with no significant rainfall forecast during that period.
Residents in districts under the warning have been advised to monitor local weather updates and take necessary precautions.
