Sircilla hotelier builds diesel stove to cut fuel costs

TELANGANA: Commercial cooking gas price hikes are troubling hotel operators. In Sircilla town, a breakfast centre owner has devised a stove that runs on diesel.
Simple motor-driven airflow enables controlled diesel combustion
Mahesh, who runs an eatery at the district headquarters, designed the stove using a small electric motor. Air generated by the motor is sent through a pipe, while diesel flows through another pipe to the stove. Ignition at the outlet produces a steady flame.
The stove allows the user to increase or decrease the flame as required. Mahesh said one litre of diesel keeps the stove burning for one to two hours.
Innovation halves fuel expenses compared with commercial cylinders
He added that fuel costs have reduced by nearly half compared with commercial liquefied petroleum gas cylinders. Mahesh spent about ₹ 10,000 and worked for four days to build the device.
The experiment has drawn interest from other eateries. Operators of two nearby hotels have also begun making similar stoves.
