Task force finds expired food articles in Shree Balaji Family Dhaba in Vanasthalipuram

HYDERABAD: The FSSAI task force conducted thorough inspections in Hotel Sitara Grand in LB Nagar and Shree Balaji Family Dhaba in Ganesh Nagar Colony, Vanasthalipuram. They assessed compliance with food safety regulations in various establishments. Team found expired food articles in Shree Balaji Family Dhaba.
Inspection findings
At Hotel Sitara Grand, LB Nagar, the FSSAI license copy was displayed at the reception. Food handlers wore hairnets and uniforms. Food articles in the refrigerator were covered and labeled. The premises were fitted with mesh and close-fitted doors to prevent pest entry. Dustbins were covered properly. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records were available. The establishment had 10 FoSTaC trained supervisors and chefs.
Conversely, at Shree Balaji Family Dhaba, Ganesh Nagar Colony, Vanasthalipuram, several issues were noted. The inspectors found expired food articles like button mushrooms, tutti frutti, and preserved karonda, which were discarded immediately. The establishment operated as a multi-brand kitchen through a food delivery app, taking orders with an expired FSSAI license. Food handlers wore hairnets but lacked aprons or uniforms. Raw and semi-prepared foods were stored in unhygienic conditions, and the refrigerator was rusted. Dustbins were absent, and kitchen waste was discarded in plastic bags. Medical fitness certificates and pest control records were not available. However, the premises had mesh fittings with no observed infestations.
The inspections revealed a stark contrast in compliance between the two establishments. Hotel Sitara Grand adhered to regulations, ensuring hygiene and safety. In contrast, Shree Balaji Family Dhaba exhibited multiple violations, raising concerns about food safety and hygiene practices.
