Residents experience dark nights in Shivarampalli as streetlights malfunction
Hyderabad: Residents of Golden City, Pillar No. 248, Shivarampalli, Hyderabad, are living in darkness due to non-functional streetlights, raising concerns about safety and security in the area. Locals fear that the lack of lighting could lead to accidents or burglaries.
Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Patel, a resident of Golden City, expressed frustration, stating, “For the past 2-3 years, we haven’t received a single new streetlight. Despite raising multiple complaints, EESL Street Lights Management rejected our requests by claiming they don’t have new lights available. Maintenance responses are equally poor; we have to remind them several times to address the issues.”
In an effort to escalate the matter, Patel took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), tagging the GHMC Mayor, Commissioner, and the official Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) account. He wrote, “Hey @EESL_CZstlight, the entire Golden City colony has been in the dark for the last two days, and nobody has bothered to address the issue.”

Patel also highlighted his attempts to get help, stating, “I have been complaining for the last week about multiple streetlights not functioning. I have raised four complaints in that time. I have checked your handle, and you’re addressing other complaints. Why are mine being ignored? I contacted Srikanth Jakka from EESL, and he told me not to call again. I also tried reaching someone named Mahender from GHMC, but he hasn’t answered my calls either.”
In a pointed remark, Patel posted, “Thanks @GHMCOnline for a dark Independence Night, despite my numerous complaints over the past week. Location: Golden City, Pillar No. 248.”

Residents continue to urge the GHMC to take swift action to restore lighting in their community for the sake of safety and security.
