SHE Teams Nab 1,612 Offenders During Ganesh Festival

HYDERABAD: SHE Teams Hyderabad, under the Women Safety Wing, cracked down on misconduct during the Ganesh Festival and caught 1,612 individuals red-handed for misbehaving with women at immersion points and celebration areas across the city. Of them, 1,544 were majors and 68 were minors.

An age-wise analysis showed 68 below 18 years, 290 between 18–20 years, 646 between 21–30 years, 397 between 31–40 years, 166 between 41–50 years, and 45 above 50 years. Minors were sent to counseling sessions to create awareness and prevent recurrence.

Petty cases and counseling measures

Out of the total offenders, 168 were booked as petty cases. Of these, 70 have already been produced before the Nampally Court, which imposed fines of ₹50 in 10 cases, ₹1,050 in 59 cases, and awarded two days’ simple imprisonment in one case. The remaining 98 cases are under process.

The other 1,444 individuals were given strict warnings and will be recalled for mandatory counseling sessions along with their parents. These sessions, conducted by psychiatrists and counselors, are aimed at correcting behavior and promoting awareness to prevent future incidents.

Strategic deployment

The operation involved SHE Teams deployed in mufti, using hidden cameras to monitor high-footfall areas. Quick response measures ensured immediate intervention, creating a safer environment for women devotees and tourists.

  • Avoid oversharing personal information.

  • Secure accounts with strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
