Shamshabad Restaurants food Safety Violations

HYDERABAD/SHAMSHABAD: Task force team conducted extensive inspections of various restaurants in the Shamshabad area on Friday. Rat faeces observed in Yes Bawarchi Multi Cuisine Restaurant. Team uncovered numerous food safety violations in Airport Bawarchi Restaurant and Hotel Hyderabad Grand also. These inspections revealed serious lapses in hygiene, labelling, and food safety protocols, raising significant concerns about public health.

Yes Bawarchi Multicuisine Restaurant faced severe violations as well. The restaurant did not display its FSSAI license prominently. The task force found that the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level of the drinking water provided to customers was only 24, significantly lower than the mandated minimum of 75. Inspectors also found synthetic food colours in the storeroom, which were discarded. Additionally, raw and semi-prepared food articles were neither labelled nor covered, posing potential health risks.

Further, rat faeces were observed on the racks and floor, indicating a possible rat infestation in the storeroom. The windows were not fitted with insect-proof screens, increasing the risk of contamination. The restaurant also failed to maintain pest control records and did not have medical fitness certificates for food handlers. The kitchen had flaking plaster on the ceiling, and the flooring was uneven and patchy, contributing to an unhygienic environment.

Expired food articles, synthetic food colors in Hotel Hyderabad Grand

The inspection of Hotel Hyderabad Grand exposed even more severe issues. The restaurant failed to display its FSSAI license prominently. Inspectors discovered expired food items, including red chilli sauce, sweet chilli sauce, coconut milk, rose water, fish masala, and thyme, which were immediately discarded. Additionally, 20 kilograms of dust tea and 2 kilograms of BBQ sauce were seized due to labelling violations. Synthetic food colours, which are prohibited, were also found and discarded. Although the semi-prepared and stored food articles were covered, they lacked labels indicating preparation and use-by dates. The restaurant also failed to provide medical fitness certificates for food handlers and water analysis reports for RO water. On the positive side, pest control records for the premises were available.

At Airport Bawarchi Restaurant, the inspection revealed that pest control records and medical fitness certificates for food handlers were not available. The kitchen lacked insect-proof screens, leaving it vulnerable to contamination. Furthermore, food articles found in the refrigerator and bread and buns displayed were not labelled, violating mandatory food safety regulations. However, the establishment had prominently displayed a true copy of its FSSAI license.
