Car hits lorry at Shamshabad, six dead
HYDERABAD: Six members of the same family died in a road accident near Shamshabad on the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad on Friday.
The accident occurred at Exit 16 when the family was returning after darshan at Yadagirigutta. The car, travelling at high speed, rammed into a stationary lorry from behind.
All six occupants died on the spot, police said. The impact crushed the vehicle, making rescue operations difficult.
Police begin inquiry into cause of crash
Police from the local police station reached the spot and shifted the bodies for post-mortem. A case has been registered, and an inquiry is underway.
Preliminary investigation suggests overspeeding as a possible cause. Police are also examining whether driver fatigue or low visibility contributed to the accident.
Traffic affected briefly on Outer Ring Road
Traffic movement on the Outer Ring Road was disrupted for some time following the crash. Authorities later cleared the vehicles and restored normal flow.
The victims were earlier reported to be travelling from Pedda Golconda towards Shamshabad. Police are verifying their identities and informing relatives.
