Shamshabad airport receives Gulf Air bomb threat

HYDERABAD:Â Bomb threats to Shamshabad airport have risen, with a fresh threat email targeting a Gulf Air flight.
Airport authorities swung into action immediately after receiving the mail, which warned that a bomb had been planted on the aircraft. Security personnel carried out intensive checks, keeping passenger safety in view.
Officials later confirmed that no explosives were found during the searches. The alert turned out to be a hoax.
Threat email sparks panic
The email claimed that a bomb was on board the Gulf Air flight. Following the alert, airport authorities deployed the bomb disposal squad and dog squad to conduct thorough checks.
After hours of inspection, officials declared the aircraft safe. They said the message was sent only to create panic.
Police launch probe
The threat triggered panic among passengers at the airport. Security officials lodged a complaint with the airport police station.
Police have intensified their probe to identify the sender of the email and trace its origin. They are examining the IP address to track down the accused.
Issuing a warning, police said sending bomb threats is a serious offence and those responsible will face strict action.
