Passengers Express Frustration Over Flight Delay At Hyderabad Airport

HYDERABAD: Airport staff at Shamshabad stopped a family from flying after discovering that a two-and-a-half-year-old child was travelling without a ticket, officials said.

The woman, her son and her grandson were boarding a flight for Patna from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. While the woman and her son had valid tickets, they had not booked a ticket for the toddler, reportedly assuming that a child of that age could travel free, as is common on buses and trains.

No ticket booked for toddler

The family cleared entry checks and boarded the aircraft without being stopped. The child was seated on an adjacent vacant seat. When the passenger who had booked that seat arrived and objected, an argument followed.

Cabin crew then checked the details and found that no ticket had been issued for the child. The matter was reported to airport authorities.

Police let family off with warning

Airport officials deboarded the woman, her son and the child and handed them over to police. During questioning, the family told police they were unaware that even toddlers require a separate ticket for air travel.

Police, considering it a mistake made without intent, did not register a case and let the family off with a warning, sources said.
