HYDERABAD: Authorities at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday carried out emergency procedures after receiving a threat email claiming that five RDX bombs had been planted on a Flynas aircraft.

Emergency landing and security checks

Following the email, airport officials ensured the aircraft landed safely. All passengers were evacuated as a precaution, after which bomb disposal squads conducted intensive checks on the aircraft. No explosives were reported to have been found during the searches.

Series of threats under investigation

Airport officials said Shamshabad airport has recently received multiple bomb threat emails and phone calls. In all such cases, security agencies are following standard operating procedures. Police have registered cases in connection with the latest threat and are investigating the source of the email.

Medical emergency on Colombo-bound flight

In a separate incident, a woman passenger travelling on a Hyderabad–Colombo flight fell severely ill on Thursday. She was shifted to the airport hospital at Shamshabad for treatment. The flight later departed for Colombo.

Meanwhile, airport authorities also announced the cancellation of the Hyderabad–Varanasi flight operated by Air India.
