Home Ministry places Shamirpet police station seventh nationwide

Hyderabad: Shamirpet police station in the Cyberabad commissionerate has been ranked the seventh best police station in India in the Home Ministry’s Best Police Stations 2025 list. The station also topped Telangana in the same ranking, the ministry announced after an evaluation by Quality Control of India.
The selection considered staff conduct with victims, prompt grievance redressal, cleanliness of station premises, CCTV/CCMS and CCORS (central criminal tracking network and systems) usage, and investigative competence. An evaluation team from the central home ministry visited the station as part of the assessment.
Medchal deputy commissioner of police N. Koti Reddy, additional DCP K. Purushottam and ACP Balagangireddy joined Cyberabad officers in congratulating Inspector Srinath and the Shamirpet staff for the recognition. They said the award reflects sustained discipline and citizen-friendly policing rather than a one-off effort.
The Home Ministry selects 10 best police stations nationwide each year to promote reforms, good behaviour towards complainants and effective case disposal. The exercise — started nationally in 2017 after a 2016 decision involves public satisfaction thresholds, shortlisting and detailed inspections that check even small facilities such as mosquito control devices and working toilet flushes.
Telangana DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy and Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty extended official felicitations to the Shamirpet team. Local media and police social channels reported the congratulatory messages and public appreciation.
Inspector Srinath said the recognition is due to staff effort and will increase the station’s responsibility to reach citizens and improve services further. “This award increases our responsibility. We will continue to work to bring the police closer to the public,” he told reporters. (Inspector’s quote as reported by station officials.)
