TG SAFE suspends licence over major food safety violations
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) has suspended the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence of Shadab Hotel in Madina, Hyderabad, over multiple food safety violations.
During inspections, officials found expired and spoiled food, poor hygiene and sanitation, and improper storage of meat and other food items. They also reported pest infestation at the hotel.
Officials found open dustbins and litter in the premises. Some food handlers were also working without headgear. The hotel had also violated food labelling and display rules.
Following the action, TG SAFE directed the hotel management to stop all business operations immediately.
The inspection formed part of a special food safety drive across Hyderabad. Nine enforcement teams, comprising food safety officers and police personnel, inspected 19 cafes and snack points.
Officials discarded perishable food exposed to dust and flies. They also seized certain food products and collected samples for laboratory analysis.
TG SAFE issued notices to several other establishments during the drive. Officials will decide on further action based on inspection reports and follow-up inspections.
