Sewerage leak from 3 manholes continues for last 10 days in Begumpet

Hyderabad: For the past ten days, persistent sewage leakage from three manholes near the Akbar firewood shop in Viqar Nagar, Begumpet, has been causing significant inconvenience to residents and commuters. The overflowing sewage has created a pool of drainage water on the roads, making the area impassable and posing health risks.
Residents of Viqar Nagar have expressed frustration with the temporary solutions provided by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and are demanding a permanent resolution to the issue.
While speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, M.A. Ahmed, a local resident, mentioned that the recent merger of the sewerage lines from Viqar Nagar with the Indian Airlines colony has overwhelmed the manholes. This has led to overflow, turning the road into a beach. He further explained that while Indian Airlines Colony has a well-developed sewage system, the merger has created a strain on the existing infrastructure.
Residents have filed numerous complaints with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), but the problem persists. While officials have attempted to address the issue by removing silt from the manholes, the residents argue that this is only a temporary fix.
MA Ahmed has called for a permanent solution, including the removal of the merger of sewerage connections with the Indian Airlines Colony. He also pointed out that the merger was implemented a year ago and is now causing significant problems.
