Hyderabad: On April 22, 2025, a team from the Telangana Commissioner of Food Safety conducted inspections in Medchal district, uncovering multiple violations at two food establishments.

At Sri Sai Ganesh Enterprises in Bolligudem, Medchal-Malkajgiri, a manufacturer of packaged drinking water and milk product Khoa, several irregularities were found. Key documents such as pest control records, medical fitness certificates, and FoSTaC training certificates for food handlers were not available.

Water analysis reports were also missing, and there were no internal or external quality analysis reports. The laboratory was non-functional. Food handlers were seen working without proper attire, such as head caps, gloves, and aprons.

The manufacturing area was found to be unhygienic, with houseflies present, and doors were found open without insect-proof screens.

In addition, the inspection found Kenbey brand packaged drinking water bottles with expired licenses. Seized products included 16 cartons of 2L Kenbey water bottles and 15 cartons of 250ml Kenbey water bottles, which were also unlabelled.

Furthermore, 38kg of unlabelled Ajmer Kalakand was discarded. The business’s transport vehicles lacked FSSAI licenses. As a result, the business’s license will be suspended in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

At S.R. Enterprises in Chengicherla, Medchal-Malkajgiri, similar issues were observed. Pest control records were absent, and although medical fitness certificates were available, they were undated.

The internal laboratory was non-functional, and external laboratory records were not provided. The manufacturing area had slippery floors, water stagnation, and improperly sealed doors.

A lizard was found in the filtration room near the tank, and there was a gap between the walls and stock. Food handlers were also seen working without proper protective gear, and bottle sealing was done in unhygienic conditions.

Additionally, transport vehicles were operating without an FSSAI license. Samples from both establishments have been collected for further laboratory analysis.
