Minister Seethakka questions Allu Arjunโ€™s National Award for Pushpa

Hyderabad: The controversy surrounding actor Allu Arjun’s has further deepened, as Telangana Minister Seethakka questioned the central government’s decision to honor his performance in “Pushpa: The Rise.” The minister’s criticism comes at a time when the actor is already facing public scrutiny over recent incidents related to the stampede at the Sandhya theatre. D Anasuya popularly knowns as Seethakka is the minister for Panchayati Raj & Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare in Government of Telangana

During her address, Seethakka drew comparison of Pushpa with another critically acclaimed film Jai Bhim, in which actor Suriya was the main lead. Seethakka highlighted that while ‘Jai Bhim’ portrayed significant social issues, including the struggle of a tribal woman fighting for justice for her wrongfully imprisoned husband, it was overlooked for national awards.

Seethakka particularly criticized Pushpa for its portrayal of law enforcement, pointing to scenes that she claimed โ€˜humiliate the police professionโ€™ in the hands of a smuggler, specifically referencing a scene where a police officer is forced to remove their clothes.

The controversy surrounding Allu Arjun has intensified following the recent release of Pushpa: The Rule, the sequel to Pushpa: The Rise. A tragic incident occurred on the opening day at Sandhya Theatre, where a stampede broke out during the actor’s appearance. The incident resulted in the death of a woman named Revathi, while her son sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Twists and turns

The situation escalated further when Telangana police arrested Allu Arjun in connection with the incident, though he was later released on bail. The controversy gained additional momentum after Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy weighed in on the matter with critical remarks about the actor. Later on, Allu Arjun also conducted a press meet and tried conveying his side and the public opinion on the issue remains divided with a lot of buzz on social media platforms.
