Secunderabad railway ticket inspectors hailed for life-saving acts and child rescues
HYDERABAD: The ticket checking staff of South Central Railway’s Secunderabad Division have earned recognition for going beyond their routine duties. They rescued passengers, traced missing children, recovered lost valuables and prevented safety incidents through timely action.
Travelling Ticket Inspector Sai Ram intercepted a child abuse suspect at Lakdikapul railway station and handed him over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF). As a result, officials registered a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act case. In addition, he traced several runaway and missing children at Begumpet and Secunderabad railway stations. He then worked with Child Welfare authorities and reunited the children with their families.
Travelling Ticket Inspector M. Sai Shankar showed quick thinking aboard Train No. 12861 on June 2. When a passenger slipped into a dangerous position between the moving train and the platform at Dornakal railway station, he immediately pulled the emergency alarm chain. Soon after, he coordinated with the RPF and shifted the injured passenger to a 108 ambulance. Doctors treated the passenger for moderate injuries.
Likewise, Travelling Ticket Inspector Racheal Ranjitha recovered corporate electronic equipment that a passenger accidentally left behind at Begumpet railway station on June 22. After verification, she returned the valuables to the owner.
Similarly, Travelling Ticket Inspector M.V. Subba Reddy performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a passenger who suffered a cardiac arrest aboard Train No. 12285 Duronto Express as it approached Nizamuddin railway station on June 2. He also arranged an ambulance on arrival. Medical staff then shifted the passenger to a hospital. His timely response helped save the passenger’s life.
Quick response prevents onboard safety risks
Meanwhile, Travelling Ticket Inspector Uttam Singh spotted smoke coming from a toilet in Train No. 18045 East Coast Express while it was running between Dornakal and Gundrathimadugu stations on May 29. He immediately stopped the train and started emergency safety procedures. Consequently, he prevented a potentially serious incident.
In another incident, Travelling Ticket Inspector Balraju responded immediately after a smoke detector activated aboard Train No. 12714 Sathavahana Express on July 8, 2026. He enforced anti-smoking rules. As a result, he removed the safety risk and ensured passengers continued their journey safely.
