SECUNDERABAD: Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials in Secunderabad have seized narcotic substances worth ₹5.79 crore so far this year, according to Divisional Security Commissioner Naveen Kumar.

He said the seizures were made under ‘Operation Narcos’, an intensified crackdown on drug smuggling through trains. “Our teams have registered 88 cases in 2025, confiscating drugs valued at ₹5.79 crore and arresting 107 people,” Naveen Kumar said.

In comparison, RPF seized ₹4.27 crore worth of drugs in 67 cases during 2024 and arrested 82 persons. The division has thus seen a 59% increase in seizure value and a 62.12% rise in arrests this year, he said.

All arrested individuals were handed over to relevant law enforcement agencies for legal action, he added.

Naveen Kumar said drug trafficking is not only harming the health of youth but also weakening the national economy. To counter this, the RPF has tightened inspections in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and other enforcement bodies.
