Secunderabad residents urge authorities to fix deteriorating road near Monda Market

Secunderabad: Residents of Maruthi Veedhi, Bandimet line, near Monda Market in Secunderabad, are struggling with the deteriorating condition of their road, which they describe as pathetic and shapeless. Despite multiple complaints to local authorities, the situation remains unchanged, causing significant inconvenience to both pedestrians and vehicle commuters.
While speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Suresh, a local resident, expressed frustration over the prolonged neglect. “I have reported this issue countless times to various officials, but to no avail. They offer empty assurances without taking any concrete steps. Even a patchwork solution would be a relief,” he said.
The situation worsened after a new drainage line was laid in July. Residents were promised road restoration before the Bonalu festival, but only a temporary sand layer was provided. Rain and heavy traffic washed away this layer, leaving the road in worse condition than before.
Suresh further highlighted the lack of response from the HMWSSB official and the local corporator. “It’s sad to see such indifference to the community’s problems. The road’s condition is a health hazard due to garbage dumping,” he added.
A complaint submitted through the GHMC app was dismissed due to jurisdictional issues. Residents are now urging the authorities to promptly address the matter and restore the road to a usable condition.
Hyderabad Mail’s Impact on Civic Issues
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Mail’s consistent reporting on civic problems yields positive results. Following the news outlet’s report on the dilapidated condition of public toilets in LB Nagar’s Chaitanyapuri, the UNIADS agency responsible for their maintenance removed the toilets on July 27.
Furthermore, the GHMC swiftly responded to a Hyderabad Mail report about a garbage pile at the Government Office of Ayush Telangana in Secunderabad by clearing the area.
In another incident, the Nizampet Municipal Corporation (NMC) sanctioned Rs 38 lakh for laying a CC road from Good Morning Cafe to Incoise Circle in Nizampet in response to a concern raised by Hyderabad Mail.
