Secunderabad Railway Station changes parking arrangements for vehicles

HYDERABAD: Passengers travelling by vehicle to Secunderabad Railway Station have been advised to note changes in parking arrangements, as redevelopment works continue at the station.
Station authorities said parking facilities at Platform No. 1 have been temporarily suspended due to ongoing development works. Only pickup and drop-off will be permitted at this location.
Platform 10 access control introduced
As part of the redevelopment, an access control system has been implemented on the Platform No. 10 side to prevent unauthorised parking and traffic obstruction. Vehicles entering this zone are allowed free pickup and drop-off for up to 15 minutes. Additional charges will be levied if vehicles exceed this limit without using designated parking areas.
Basement parking at Platform 10
Adequate parking facilities have been provided in the basement on the Platform No. 10 side for passengers and visitors. Approved parking charges are as follows:
Four-wheelers: ₹40 for up to two hours; ₹20 for every additional hour or part thereof
Two-wheelers: ₹25 for up to two hours; ₹10 for every additional hour
Bicycles: ₹5 for up to two hours; ₹2 for every additional hour
Redevelopment progress
Officials said around 50 per cent of the station redevelopment work has been completed. The project, being executed at a cost of ₹714.73 crore, aims to upgrade passenger amenities, strengthen infrastructure and enhance capacity. The project is targeted for completion by December 2026.
Planned facilities include a multi-level car parking on the Platform No. 1 side, basement parking on the Platform No. 10 side, increased parking capacity, regulated vehicle movement and improved convenience for passengers and visitors.
The South Central Railway has urged commuters to use the authorised basement parking at Platform No. 10 to ensure smooth traffic movement and avoid overstay charges due to unauthorised parking.
