Secunderabad ranks fourth among railway stations
HYDERABAD: Secunderabad railway station has emerged as the fourth-highest revenue-earning railway station in India, with passenger revenue of ₹1,276.29 crore in the last financial year and around 2.78 crore passengers using the station.
The station ranks fourth in the country in terms of both passenger revenue and passenger footfall, according to a recent railway report. New Delhi Metro City Centre tops the list, followed by Howrah and MGR Chennai Central.
Station connects northern and southern states
The report said Secunderabad’s role as a key link between Hyderabad and major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata has helped it figure among the country’s top railway stations.
The station handled around 2.78 crore passenger movements during the last financial year, generating ₹1,276.29 crore in passenger revenue.

Redevelopment work targets June next year
Redevelopment work at Secunderabad railway station is under way at a cost of ₹714 crore. South Central Railway chief public relations officer A. Sreedhar said the target is to complete the work by June next year.
He said the upgraded station, with world-class facilities, would be able to handle more trains and a larger number of passengers. This could help Secunderabad move up to the third position among the country’s top railway stations, he added.
Sreedhar said Secunderabad station serves as a key connecting hub between the northern and southern states of India.
