Secunderabad: Sneaking through state borders, traveling over 150 km by road on a two wheeler, ticketless travel on different trains – this is the journey of ganja peddlers untill they were caught by the Secunderabad Railway Police. The interstate ganja smuggling racket, which is transporting banned contraband Ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra via two telugu states, was busted on Monday.

According to the police, the accused were transporting Dry Ganja from Mohana of Odisha State to Nanded of Maharashtra for selling the same to needy people at a higher price. One of the accused, Chand Kumar Nayak met Mihir through a common friend. Mihir offered the job of smuggling ganja and agreed to pay Rs. 3000 for the consignment.

As per the direction of Mihir, Chand Kumar Nayak and Chida went to a place in Mohana Town of Odisha on bike and met with Mihir who handed 12 packets of 24 kgs ganja in two trolley suitcases. Further Mihir directed them to meet three persons at Palasa railway station with ganja bags and all together should hand over them to a person at Nanded railway station, said police.

Fifteen Lakhs worth ganja stuffed in two trolleys

Subsequently Chand Kumar Nayak and Chida started their journey on a two wheeler with 24 kgs of ganja and reached Palasa Railway Station by travelling over 150 kilometres, where they met three people who were also in possession of ganja in their bags. Following which they boarded a train without ticket and travelled in a general coach till Visakhapatnam. Further they boarded the Godavari Express train bound to Secunderabad in a general coach without a ticket. After boarding the train they concealed Ganja bags under seats and reached Secunderabad on Monday at 6:30AM. The de-boarded at Secunderabad and leaving Chand Kumar Nayak with the Dry ganja concealed in bags, all the other accused went to have breakfast and enquire about the availability of trains to Nanded from Secunderabad.

Meanwhile Government Railway police (GRP) staff along with Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff conducting checking on platform No.10 of Secunderabad Railway Station, found accused Chand Kumar Nayak in possession of two trolley suitcases and three bags containing 62 Kgs of Dry Ganja approximately worth Rs.15.50 lakhs.
