Secunderabad Railway police Arrest Gold Snatching Gang

Secunderabad: Secunderabad Railway police arrested three members of a snatching gang and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakhs on Tuesday. The accused were arrested at Cherlapally Railway Station in a joint operation by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) Secunderabad.

The accused were identified as Orsu Venkanna (38), Orsu Naveen (25), and Orsu Ashok (30), residents of Medchal-Malkajgiri District and natives of Muripirala Village, Warangal District. A juvenile was also apprehended in connection with the cases.

According to the police, the accused are relatives from the same community, living in Hyderabad, Chakripuram, and Dammaiguda, working as laborers and masons, addicted to alcohol and cigarettes, and other bad vices. “Therefore the earnings didn’t meet their needs, so they formed a gang and decided to commit offences. Initially, they committed mobile thefts, but they realized that selling mobile phones didn’t get more profits and also they were easily caught by the police, then they decided to focus on snatching gold ornaments from passengers in running trains,” said Secunderabad railway police in a press statement. The accused worked as laborers and mason workers but turned to crime to support their alcohol addiction.

Gold worth Rs 10 lakh recovered

Investigation revealed that the accused gang was involved in seven cases, including six snatching cases registered at RPS Secunderabad and RPS Nalgonda. Police recovered 131 grams of gold ornaments and three mobile phones.

In a separate case, police arrested Mohammad Salman Siddique (29) from Fatima Nagar, Charminar, under Section 303(2) BNSS.

The operation was led by B. Saieashwar Goud, IRP/SHO, with GRP and RPF under Bhavani Shankar Saraswat, IPF/SC. The arrests were made under the supervision of Railway Police Superintendent Chandana Deepti, IPS, and DSRP SC(U) S.N. Jawed. IGP Railway and Road Safety K. Ramesh Naidu, IPS, commended the joint operation and announced rewards for the officers involved in the arrests and recovery.
