Secunderabad Medha School sealed in alprazolam case

SECUNDERABAD: Authorities sealed Medha School in Bowenpally on Sunday after finding alprazolam being manufactured on the premises.
Unaware of the action, students arrived at the school with their parents on Monday morning. Parents expressed concern that no prior information was given. “If the school issues transfer certificates, we can admit our children elsewhere,” one parent said. They termed drug production inside a school as shocking and demanded the education department suggest an alternative.
Parents also pointed out that 70% of the annual fees had already been paid and said the future of the students was now uncertain.
How the racket was exposed
The accused was identified as Malelela Jayaprakash Goud (39) of Mahabubnagar district, residing at Sai Colony, Old Bowenpally. He ran the school under the name Medha. Police said he started manufacturing alprazolam to earn easy money. He received the formula from one Guru Reddy.
Using equipment installed in two rooms on the second floor of the school, Jayaprakash produced the drug and supplied it to liquor shops in Bhootpur mandal of Mahabubnagar district.
Acting on a tip-off, the Eagle team carried out surprise checks on Saturday and arrested Jayaprakash along with his aides — Pentamol Uday Sai (23) and Goutem Murali (23), both from Bowenpally. Following the arrests, officials sealed the school on Sunday.
