High tension erupts in Secunderabad after idol vandalism incident

Secunderabad: An idol near Secunderabad’s Passport Office behind Vijaya Healthcare was allegedly vandalised in the early morning hours on Monday, October 14, 2024, sparking significant unrest among local residents.

According to the reports, the sound of the vandalism alerted locals, who rushed to the temple to find the idol allegedly damaged.

A large crowd gathered at the scene, leading to heightened tensions as residents demanded immediate justice and strict punishment for the culprits. In response to the situation, police forces were deployed to control the crowd and maintain order.

Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sriganesh faced protests during his visit to the site, with attendees chanting “Go Back.” He condemned the act of vandalism and called for justice, urging authorities to take swift action.

Former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav also spoke out, highlighting the pain caused by the idol’s destruction. He remarked, “In the North Zone, people of all religions come together, and those who destroyed the statue should be severely punished.”

The police assured the protesting residents that they would apprehend the culprits and ensure they were held accountable. They also promised that the temple’s idol would be restored.
