Secunderabad railway police busts a ganja smuggling racket
Secunderabad: Secunderabad Railway police busted an interstate ganja smuggling racket and arrested drug peddler and recovered 60kgs of contraband from his possession on Wednesday. The seized contraband worth fifteen lakhs. The accused was reportedly smuggling ganja to the National capital from Odisha.
According to the railway police,they have organized surprise checks against the Drugs peddlers on platforms and trains at Secunderabad Railway Station. They noticed suspect Dilip Kumar Nayak who was moving suspiciously in the station premises and took him into custody.
“On wednesday morning at around 8 o’clock the GRP staff along with RPF staff conducting checking on platform number 2 of Secunderabad Railway Station, meantime the Police apprehended the accused in possession of one trolley suitcases and five back pack bags containing 60 Kgs of Dry Ganja, found worth Rs.15,00,000,” said Railway police in an official note.
Investigation revealed that the accused is transporting Dry Ganja from Gajapati of Odisha State to Delhi for selling the same to needy people at a higher price. On Tuesday the accused Dilip Kumar Nayak took (60) Kgs of dry ganja in six bags from another accused Tapon at Gajapati forest area. Further Tapon and Kumar brought the ganja bags to Ichapuram Railway Station. From there Kumar transported the ganja bags in the general coach of Visakha express to Secunderabad for handing over to Bijay to further transport to Delhi.
RPS Secunderabad railway police seized the contraband and arrested the accused and booked him under NDPS Act and sent him to judicial custody. The railway police launched a manhunt against the absconding accused Tapan and Bijay. Further investigation is underway.
Additional director General of police (ADG) Railway and Road safety Mahesh Bhagwat appreciated the officers and men of GRP Secunderabad and they will be rewarded suitably.
