Secunderabad Cantonment e-Chhawani portal outage disrupts payments

HYDERABAD: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board’s official e-Chhawani portal has remained non-functional for three days due to a technical glitch, disrupting revenue-related transactions, officials said.
Revenue transactions remain stalled for three days
Officials confirmed that users were unable to complete payments and other revenue services on the platform during the outage. A senior official said the problem was not limited to Secunderabad, with other Cantonment Boards also facing similar issues due to the non-functioning of e-Chhawani portals.
The e-Chhawani portal was upgraded in 2021 by the Ministry of Defence across all 61 Cantonment Boards, including Secunderabad Cantonment, to deliver key online civic services. These include lodging civic complaints, submitting documents for trade licences, tanker booking, property tax payments, applications for birth and death certificates and name corrections, lease renewals, and requests for water and sewerage connections.
Residents directed to SCB office for essential services
With the portal yet to be restored, residents have been asked to visit the Secunderabad Cantonment Board office in person to register complaints, pay water bills, and apply for new water and sewerage connections, an official said.
“Residents can approach the engineering, health, taxes and water wings to resolve their issues until the portal is restored. Efforts are underway, and the portal is expected to resume functioning within a week,” the official added.
