Secunderabad army storage facility sees arms theft
SECUNDERABAD: Police are investigating the theft of weapons from a storage facility at an Army regiment in Secunderabad and searching for those involved.
The suspects allegedly broke open the doors of the barrack where the weapons were stored and fled with the arms. Officials have identified more than 12 weapons as stolen.
The Army has placed the entire Secunderabad Cantonment area on high alert following the theft.
Officials are keeping a close watch on Army officers’ quarters and the movement of people in and out of the area. Those entering or leaving the officers’ quarters are being checked.
Security arrangements for Army officers have also been strengthened, with additional escorts deployed for them.
The theft has raised concern among officials as it took place at a weapons storage facility where security measures were in place.
