SCR proposes three new MMTS stations at Alwal, Anandbagh and Moula Ali

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway (SCR) is likely to set up three new stations under the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) at Loyola College in Alwal, Anandbagh and Moula Ali.
SCR has already sent the proposal for the three stations to the Railway Board and is now awaiting approval.
“We are awaiting approval from the board,” an SCR official said.
Frequent commuters suggested the proposed stations and urged SCR to add more halts to improve suburban rail connectivity in several residential areas.
Residents said the MMTS stations at Alwal and Moula Ali would improve access to Hyderabad’s western IT corridor, especially for daily commuters from the northern suburbs.
“Our area has a lot of techies travelling to the IT corridor for work, and there is no Metro Rail connectivity either. So, a separate MMTS station with train halts will improve connectivity,” said U. Santosh, a resident of Bolaram.
Subhead: Yadagirigutta MMTS extension also proposed
Meanwhile, commuters from Malkajgiri said the existing railway stations at Charlapalli and Neredmet are not easily accessible for residents of Anandbagh and nearby colonies.
“Many people living in Anandbagh and surrounding areas will benefit if an MMTS station comes up here,” a commuter said.
In addition, SCR has proposed the third phase of MMTS connectivity linking Hyderabad with the temple town of Yadagirigutta.
Recently, Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to perform the bhoomi puja for the proposed Yadagirigutta railway line works.
