Abandoned SBI ATM machine found near Boyapally fields after theft in Mahabubnagar

MAHABUBNAGAR: Miscreants allegedly uprooted a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM near Telangana Chowrasta in Mahabubnagar town and fled with the machine after damaging surveillance equipment and cutting off the power supply.

According to police, the accused first disconnected the electricity supply to the ATM kiosk and destroyed the CCTV cameras before removing the ATM machine. They reportedly loaded the machine into a vehicle and escaped from the spot.

Police said the suspects later took the ATM machine to agricultural fields near Boyapally village. The machine was allegedly broken open using a gas cutter, after which the cash inside was stolen.

The empty ATM machine was later found abandoned in the fields.

Bank officials are verifying transaction records and cash balance details to determine the exact amount stolen from the ATM, police added.

Police have launched an investigation and are examining available evidence to identify the accused.
