Speeding car crash kills three near Sattupalli

SATTUPALLI: Three young men died and two others were critically injured when a speeding car slammed into a road divider on the national highway near Kishtaram in the early hours of Wednesday.

Friends meet late at night, leave in car

Police said five friends, who lived in different locations, decided to meet late on Tuesday night. They set out in a car at high speed, which proved fatal minutes later.

Siddesh Srinivas Rao and Srilatha’s son Jai Siddesh (18) from Kommepalli resettlement colony took along his close friend Marsakatla Shashidhar (11) around 11pm. They drove to Annurreddipalli in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, where they picked up Talari Ajay (25).

Car torn apart after hitting divider

On their way back towards Sattupalli, Sheikh Imran (23) and Sajid (25) joined them. As the group approached Ambedkar Nagar near Kishtaram on the national highway, the car veered off course and crashed into the divider.

The vehicle was completely mangled. Jai died after hitting the concrete slab near a roadside drainage. Shashidhar suffered severe injuries and died soon after. Sajid, who was driving, was shifted to Sattupalli community health centre, where doctors declared him dead.

Police probe why teen took out car at night

Kalluru ACP Vasundhara Yadav, forensic personnel and Sattupalli circle inspector T Srihari inspected the spot. Police said overspeeding caused the accident and added they are examining why Jai took the car out late at night without informing his family.

Minister, MLA express shock

Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao expressed shock and conveyed condolences to the families. He instructed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured. MLA Matta Raghamaayi Dayanand and his spouse visited the families and offered support.
