Balanagar: Cyberabad Police issued security guidelines for residents leaving home during Sankranti festival. Balanagar Police Inspector T Narasimha Raju emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures against potential theft during this holiday period.

“Despite enhanced police patrols and surveillance, residents must take necessary precautions to secure their homes,” said T Narasimha Raju. The police urged residents to install quality CCTV cameras around homes and colonies, as the existing network installed through corporate CSR initiatives has proven effective in preventing crime.

Cyberabad police recommended using high-security locks while keeping them concealed behind door curtains. Residents should keep one light on when they are away. They should also consider timer-controlled lights. Modern security systems allowing remote monitoring through mobile phones are advised.

Those leaving for the festival should inform their neighbours and local police about travel plans. For long absences, cancel newspaper and milk deliveries. Arrange regular maintenance of the house’s exterior to avoid signs of vacancy. Vehicles should be parked inside premises rather than on streets, and valuables should ideally be stored in bank lockers.

The police stressed the need for community vigilance. They urged residents to report suspicious activities. “Residents can contact emergency services at 100 or reach Cyberabad Police through WhatsApp at 9490617444,” T Narasimha Raju added.

For travelling residents, Police INspector T Narasimha Raju advised keeping valuable items close and avoiding sharing financial information with others. The police station will maintain a register of vacant houses for enhanced surveillance during the festival period. Residential colonies should form security committees and employ reliable watchmen for additional protection, ensuring a safer holiday season.
