Birmingham fire kills Telangana student Sahaja Reddy
Telangana : A Telangana student, Sahaja Reddy, died in a fire accident at an apartment complex in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday. She was the elder daughter of Udumula Jayakar Reddy, a resident of Chowdaryguda under Pocharam Municipality in Medchal district.
Family says she was pursuing master’s degree in New York
Relatives said Sahaja was pursuing her MS degree in New York and had travelled to Birmingham to meet friends when the accident occurred. Local authorities in Alabama informed the family about the fire and the confirmation of her death.
Officials contact family as arrangements begin
Family members said they were in touch with US authorities regarding the procedures for bringing the body back to Hyderabad. “We were told about the fire by officials there. We are waiting for further information,” a relative said.
