Telangana: An RTC bus travelling from Hyderabad to Anantapur overturned on National Highway 44 in the early hours of Thursday, injuring 20 passengers. Four of them are in critical condition, officials said.
Bus en route to Anantapur loses control
The accident occurred at Itikyala Padu stage in Jogulamba Gadwal district. According to initial reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which toppled on the highway.
Local residents and motorists alerted the police and emergency services. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Officials said 20 passengers sustained serious injuries. Four among them remain critical and are under close medical supervision.
Police registered a case and began an investigation. Preliminary information suggests overspeeding or driver fatigue may have contributed to the mishap. The exact cause will be established after a detailed inquiry.
Traffic on NH-44 was disrupted briefly following the accident but was restored later.
