RRR Victims Protest Against Land Acquisition Policies

Hyderabad: Victims and farmers affected by the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project met former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) leader T Harish Rao at his residence in Hyderabad, voicing concerns about land acquisition processes and broken promises.

The victims expressed their grief that CM Revanth Reddy, Minister Komatireddy, and MLAs ignored their grievances. The farmers’ primary demands include maintaining the original 40-kilometer northern stretch, fair compensation, consensual land acquisition, and adherence to the Land Acquisition Act.

Key issues raised include reducing the northern RRR stretch from 40 to 28 kilometers, impacting farmers in Choutuppal municipality. The road’s alignment is dividing the municipality, causing farmers to lose agricultural lands and properties.

The Choutuppal junction was reportedly expanded from 78 to 184 acres, leading to increased land acquisition and reduced compensation. Farmers argue that the survey and acquisition processes are being conducted forcibly and against established norms.

Harish Rao slams Congress over RRR project discrepancies

Harish Rao criticized the current government’s approach. He assured the BRS party would stand with the victims until Congress fulfills its election commitments. Rao called out Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi for the discrepancy between her campaign promises and current government actions.

He highlighted past commitments made by current government members, including Komati Reddy, who supported farmers’ demands for alignment changes. He accused Congress of deception and changing stance after gaining power.

Harish Rao warned the government of consequences, stating the BRS party will support the victims. He pledged to raise the issue during upcoming assembly sessions and hold the government accountable.
