Hyderabad: A portion of the roof at the entrance of the newly constructed Cherlapally Railway Terminal collapsed on Saturday evening amid strong winds and heavy rainfall. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the area was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

According to available information, the roofing sheets at the southern side’s main entrance gate gave way due to the intense weather conditions. Visuals shared on social media by senior Hyderabad-based journalist Surya Reddy revealed the extent of the damage, which appeared to be limited to a specific section of the entrance.
The Cherlapally police stated they had not received any formal complaint or report about the incident. Authorities are expected to conduct an inspection to assess the damage and identify any structural concerns.
The terminal, part of a ₹413 crore project, was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January. The facility had been hailed as a key addition to Hyderabad’s growing rail infrastructure, aimed at easing congestion at the city’s major stations.
This near-miss incident raises concerns about the structural integrity of newly developed public infrastructure, especially in the face of increasingly unpredictable weather patterns.
