Hyderabad: The Telangana State Commissioner of Food Safetyโ€™s Task Force conducted surprise inspections at multiple food establishments in Hyderabad, uncovering serious hygiene violations.

4 Seasons Multicuisine Restaurant, Tolichowki, Mehdipatnam

On March 5, 2025, the Task Force inspected the 4 Seasons Multicuisine Restaurant located in Tolichowki. Officials found several hygiene issues, including refrigerators maintained in poor condition and drains without proper traps to capture contaminants. The kitchen ceiling was found to be sooty, while the floor was patchy and littered with food waste. Walls were oily, and tiles were broken in some areas. Exhausts and chimneys were greasy and unclean.

A heavy cockroach infestation was observed throughout the kitchen, and rat feces were found in the storage area, indicating rodent activity. The washing area was unhygienic, with stagnant water and clogged drains. Several food items in the refrigerator were uncovered, and none were labeled.

Raw meats like chicken and mutton were stored in an unhygienic manner, with food and non-food items stored together. The air-conditioner in the cold room was leaking, potentially leading to contamination of uncovered food articles.

Amogha Hotel & Cafe, Ameerpet

On March 6, 2025, the Task Force inspected Amogha Hotel & Cafe in Ameerpet. During the inspection, several critical records, including pest control records, employee health records, water analysis reports, and the supervisor’s FSSAI (Fostac) certificate, were found to be missing.

Refrigerators were poorly maintained and littered with food waste. The flooring was patchy, with food waste and stagnant water present in several areas. The grinding and washing areas were unhygienic with clogged drains.

Food items in the refrigerator were uncovered and unlabelled, and synthetic food colors were discarded after suspicion of being used in food preparation. Rodent infestation was observed in the storage area, and the toilet was found to open directly into the kitchen, posing a risk of contamination.

Taaza Kitchen, Ameerpet

The Task Force also inspected Taaza Kitchen in Ameerpet on the same day. The inspection revealed that essential records, such as the water analysis report and FSSAI certificates for the supervisor, were unavailable. Refrigerators were poorly maintained, and dustbins were found uncovered. Food articles in the refrigerators were uncovered and unlabelled. Raw and semi-prepared food, along with food and non-food items, were stored together.

Spoiled vegetables, such as tomatoes, were found, and rusty iron knives were used for cutting vegetables. Storage was cramped, and many food items were stored directly on the ground rather than on pallets. Rice flour stored in a steel container was infested with insects and discarded.

Temperature records for the cold room were missing, and several food handlers were not wearing appropriate protective gear, such as hairnets and gloves.
