Alkapur township Road No. 30

HYDERABAD: Hundreds of residents on Road No. 30 in Alkapur township, Neknampur are suffering because of ongoing road work by municipal authorities. They reported their problems to the Additional Chief Secretary of Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) and senior officials of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation.

Bring the issue to fore, Shaik Aarif Mohammed, General Secretary of The Citizens Council (THE CC), asked officials to act quickly. He raised safety, health, and infrastructure issues caused by how the road work is being done.

Furthermore, most apartments on Road No. 30 Alkapur township, Neknampur rely on private water tankers because their borewells have dried up. Municipal water comes only once every two days for about an hour. Residents fear the road work may block water tankers and leave them without water.

In addition, the complaint says many work sites lack safety measures. Residents want barricades, caution boards, warning signs, diversion indicators, and safety lights to prevent accidents, especially for children, women, seniors, pedestrians, and drivers.

Moreover, dust, noise, and pollution from the work cause health problems. Children, seniors, and people with health conditions are at greater risk. Residents want regular water sprinkling, dust control, and proper debris management.

As a result, the road work has made parking and driving difficult. Residents ask for temporary parking spaces. They also request no penalties, towing, or challans during the work. Additionally, The Citizens Council also wants full project details. They ask for the agency’s name, work scope, timeline, permissions, supervising officer, and complaint system.

However, residents say they support development. But if officials do not address their concerns, they may ask authorities to stop the work until proper safety measures and facilities are in place.
